Martín de la Puente said goodbye to the US Open chair tennis tournament on Thursday, losing in the quarterfinals against Gordon Reid. The British, number seven in the world, came back from behind against number four to beat him by 1-6, 7-5 and 7-5 in 2h35. The serve penalized the Spaniard especially in the third set, after dominating the first set with four breaks. Reid landed 46 winners and committed more errors (33) than Martin (18), but was able to hang on as De la Puente took a 4-0 lead in the second set.
