Balfour Beatty and HMC Architects have been awarded a $28 million design-build contract by the County of Los Angeles for the construction of the San Gabriel Valley Aquatic Center that will be erected on the campus of the former Temple Academy in an unincorporated area of La Puente. The site is at 645 N. California Ave. Total cost of the project, which was adopted Aug. 2 by the L.A. County Board of Supervisors, is just under $35 million. It was spearheaded by Supervisor Hilda L. Solis. 'Access to public swimming pools in underserved areas is a matter of equity,' Solis said in a statement.
